One of the downsides of Christmas is that it is a popular time of year for thieves to operate.
Break-ins rise during the cold winter months, as a result of long days and expensive gifts left under the tree.
On average a burglary costs a family a hefty £1,746 during winter, an increase of 14 per centy compared to claims made during the summer according to Halifax Home Insurance.
