Handy accessories for the bathroom

Whether you’ve recently remodelled your bathroom or want to liven up the space with a few new accessories, there are some items that are particularly handy to have in this part of the home. They’ll also look great if you choose things that go with your decor.

There are, of course, the obvious bathroom accessories like towel and toilet roll holders that no bathroom should ever be without. The following are a few additional items that can add a certain something to your bathroom – you’ll find plenty more examples of handy products here.

Shower caddy

Showers can easily get cluttered with all manner of bottles and soaps, especially when there are several people in your household who share the bathroom. Most shower fittings will only come with a small soap dish as standard, which is why buying a separate shower caddy can be a good idea.

This is typically a chrome wire unit with multiple shelves that can either sit neatly in the corner of your shower enclosure or be mounted to the wall and hang, providing shelves at a useful height.

This is a simple and stylish way to organise your shower a little better and prevent bottles from stacking up on the floor.

Bath rack

If you’ve got a bath, you may also want to invest in a bath rack. These can be a great way to make sure you’ve got everything you want to hand when you’re having a leisurely soak in the tub.

As with shower caddys, they are usually made from chrome wire, so wet items will drain properly and won’t remain damp. Often these can simply be rested across the bath, making them versatile and easy to store if you don’t want them in view.

Designer light pull

If you have a pull light in your bathroom, it can be easy to leave the plain cord with the plastic toggle at the end in place, rather than swapping it for something a little more stylish.

However, there are some stunning light pulls on the market that can add a finishing touch to your bathroom. From sleek chrome cylinders on metal chains to ceramic teardrop shaped pulls with period embellishments, there’s something to suit every bathroom.

These accessories really do come in a vast array of shapes, sizes and designs, so take a bit of time to shop around for the right option for your home.

Hairdryer or straightener holder

If you spend a lot of time in front of the mirror each morning making your hair look pristine, you will more than likely use a hairdryer and a pair of straighteners. Rather than having to worry about these gadgets marking the side in your bathroom when they’re hot, or getting damaged by water, invest in a wall-mounted holder for them.

These accessories are normally made out of chrome and won’t look intrusive in your bathroom. The best option is a holder with a space for a hairdryer and a separate support for a pair of straighteners.

Toilet brush holder

This probably isn’t one of the first accessories you’d think of buying specially for your bathroom, but by choosing a well-designed toilet brush holder that fits in with the rest of your decor, you can make this essential cleaning item look much less unsightly.

Toilet brush holders are often made from cheap, brightly-coloured plastic, which certainly doesn’t fit in with the majority of clean, minimalistic bathrooms. You can pick between wall-mounted holders that sit discreetly next to the toilet bowl or those that stand on the floor.

Opting for a toilet brush and holder in white or chrome is the best choice, as this will blend in with almost any bathroom design scheme, although a wooden holder can also look good, depending on the rest of the space.
